BLOG POST 1

For my first blog post I’d like to talk about an artist that I look up to. The artist that I look up to is an online content creator that goes by the name PapaPoob. I love his colorful and whimsical creatures that he draws. PapaPoob sells a variety of merchandise such as stickers, T-shirts, hoodies/sweaters, and collages on their website. They also create Youtube videos and are a part of a podcast that I really enjoy listening to. He is my source of inspiration most of the time when I’m doodling.

For my second blog post I’d like to talk about a project that I did for my Graphic Design IV class. For the assignment we had to 100 variations of a design using the same elements. The assignment was an interesting challenge because I usually like to plan out what I’m going to do for a project but I didn’t for this one. I worked mostly on impulse, an idea would come to mind and I’d make it, this wasn’t always the best because I’d have another idea mid design and forget it by the time I was done. There were a couple of times where I would hit a wall and have a hard time thinking of new designs. This project was a great way to test my creativity.

For my third blog post I’d like to talk about one of my favorite bands at the moment, Durand Jones and the Indications. They make R&B/Soul music that sounds amazing to me. All of their songs have a unique sound to them and I even prefer their cover of songs to the originals. I started listening to them around 2020 and have been listening to them consistently. Durand jones recently released a solo album which I saw him perform live. Seeing him live was one of the best experiences of my life and I recommend them to anyone looking to expand their playlists.

For my fourth blog post I’d like to talk about a personal art project that I worked on, I made a little diorama inspired from the movie Halloween. This is the first time I’ve made something like this. I was inspired to make a diorama because of a TikTok account I saw (@adam_rkc), they make horror book nooks. I had fun looking for materials to work on this project in person and online. The process of creating the diorama was really fun, I also had fun learning tip from different Youtube videos. I’m currently working on my next horror diorama based on the Nightmare on Elm street movies.
